LG U+, ADT Caps, and Gateman are joining hands to introduce the industry's first differentiated IoT-based home security service available for around 20,000 won per month.

LG Uplus, which is leading the domestic home IoT market with IoT service reaching over 200,000 households, announced that it will launch 'IoT Caps', a home security service that combines IoT technology, security guards, and door locks, in partnership with ADT Caps, the world's No. 1 security brand, and Gateman, the No. 1 door lock brand in Korea.

The 'IoT Caps' introduced this time is a service that the three companies have been preparing since August of last year through a business partnership. It is characterized by the fact that while convenience of use and security functions have been strengthened to suit the residential market, the price has been significantly reduced to 1/3.

IoT Caps is based on Gateman's latest door lock, ADT Caps' security guard, and LG U+'s IoT devices and technology, and provides security such as ▲entrance locking ▲intrusion detection ▲alarm notification ▲security guard, as well as ▲remote control of smartphones through IoT.

With the latest door lock provided by Gateman, you can lock the front door, and in case of an intruder, LG U+'s IoT hub will detect the door lock being forcibly opened or damaged, and you can receive ADT Caps dispatch service along with an alarm siren. Additionally, if an external intrusion is detected through a window, the 'IoT opening detection sensor' can send an intrusion notification to the customer's smartphone, requesting the dispatch of ADT security personnel.

When used in conjunction with IoT switches, plugs, and other devices, it's possible to remotely turn on the TV or living room lights, making it appear as if someone is home. While home security services, including on-site service from security companies, cost around 60,000 to 70,000 won per month, IoT Caps costs just 28,600 won per month (VAT included).

This fee includes the price and usage of six devices, including Gateman's latest door lock, an advanced IoT hub with voice recognition and intrusion detection siren functions, an IoT switch, an IoT plug, and two opening detection sensors. Security services provided upon subscription include unlimited automatic dispatch in the event of door lock damage and customer-requested dispatch service (one free service per year). Additional charges will apply when adding a customer request dispatch.

ADT Caps’ Head of Strategy and Planning Kim Jin-tae said, “The biggest advantage of this IoT Caps is that it can make our homes safer at an affordable price,” and added, “With the launch of this IoT Caps, we plan to further strengthen our strategy in the domestic home security market, which has not yet become widespread.”

IoT Caps subscriptions will be available at LG U+ direct stores and agencies nationwide starting on the 3rd of this month. Customers can also apply by calling LG U+'s customer service center (dial 101). To celebrate the service launch, LG U+ is offering a monthly discount of 8,800 won (including VAT) to the first 3,000 new subscribers until the end of April.
