Universal Robots (www.universal-robots.com) announced that it will participate in the 2016 Automation World, held at COEX starting on the 9th. Universal Robots, the inventor of the world's first collaborative robot, develops and manufactures collaborative robots applicable to a variety of industrial settings.

At this exhibition, Universal Robots will present a demo that allows visitors to experience automation in real-world industrial settings. The robot arm, which moves a cylindrical object from a feeder to a pallet, demonstrates two responses: slowing down for safety in collaborative environments and accelerating back to the preset speed in typical manufacturing processes. This demonstration allows visitors to experience the safety features built into Universal Robots' collaborative robots.

Universal Robots' safety system, certified by TÜV (Germany's Technical Inspection Association), incorporates eight safety features that can adjust the robot's force and momentum, as well as joint position and speed, TCP position, tool posture, speed, and force. This feature automatically stops the robot if a user-defined force is applied to it. Universal robots are easy to use and smaller and lighter than existing industrial robots, allowing them to collaborate with people even in confined spaces, resulting in optimal productivity.

Additionally, in front of the COEX Grand Ballroom, a "Universal Robots Photo Studio" will be set up, where visitors can take photos with the UR3 against the backdrop of Universal Robots' Danish factory. Visitors can experience "Free Drive" mode, which allows them to easily move the robot with the push of a button. Through "Free Drive," visitors can move the UR5 holding the camera to set the angle, then strike a pose with the UR3 and snap a photo with the press of a button. Photos taken this way can be viewed on the screen and sent via email.

Meanwhile, Universal Robots will present "Highlights of Safety Features Built into Collaborative Robots" at the 3rd Smart Factory International Conference on the 9th. The presentation will detail the productivity and competitiveness improvements Korean SMEs can achieve by adopting collaborative robots with built-in safety features.
