Dassault Systèmes (www.3ds.com), the global leader in 3D design software, announced that Vestas (www.vestas.com), the world's largest wind turbine manufacturer, has adopted Dassault Systèmes' energy industry solution, "Sustainable Wind Turbines," to manage its manufacturing operations. This solution will enable Vestas to standardize its global manufacturing systems and supply chain processes and prepare for future expansion.

With wind energy projected to account for approximately 10% of global electricity consumption by 2025, wind turbine manufacturers in a rapidly changing market must provide high-quality, reliable products with the flexibility to meet local market and customer needs. Vestas, which operates 56,800 wind turbines in 75 countries worldwide, wanted the flexibility to produce products at any facility as it expanded into new regions. Furthermore, the company sought to achieve cost and quality targets across the entire 20-year design lifecycle of its wind turbines through an outsourcing strategy.

Based on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, 'Sustainable Wind Turbines' provides outstanding engineering, manufacturing and project management capabilities that integrate information in a global collaborative environment using the DELMIA Apriso application. By virtually planning and validating manufacturing processes before production begins, companies can minimize manufacturing costs and on-site delays while ensuring desired production volumes.

With 19 manufacturing facilities worldwide, Vestas has now implemented a single, integrated digital solution that securely integrates with its existing ERP system and provides real-time visibility and control of its entire manufacturing process. This enables Vestas to coordinate and synchronize wind turbine factory processes, including quality, warehouse, maintenance, labor, and supply chain, as well as people, processes, equipment, tools, and materials. Furthermore, improved operational flexibility and adaptability to change enable Vestas to replicate, design, and implement improvements across all its facilities.
