Universal Robots, a leader in the era of industrial automation
A conference offering a firsthand look at the future of the automation industry has been held. "Automation World 2016," an exhibition showcasing key automation components such as PLCs, industrial computers, drives, and sensors, will be held from March 9th to 11th at Halls A and B of COEX in Samseong-dong.
This event, co-hosted by COEX, Cheomdan, Iomunhwasa, and the Korea Machine Vision Industry Association, was held concurrently with the 27th International Factory Automation Exhibition (AIMEX), the 5th Korea Machine Vision Industry Exhibition (Korea Vision Show), and the 2nd Smart Factory.
Universal Robots, a robotics automation company, also participated in this event, drawing attention.
Universal Robots said that collaborative robots can be adapted to any scale of production environment and that flexible and user-friendly robots can be used for small-scale, mixed production assembly and material handling to provide a competitive edge.
Additionally, during the exhibition, Universal Robots has set up a photo studio where visitors can take pictures with its product, the UR3, against the backdrop of its Danish factory, and is also presenting a demo where visitors can experience automation in actual industrial settings.

Universal Robots participates in establishing safety standards for collaborative robots.
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has announced ISO/TS 15066, a safety standard for collaborative robots. ISO/TS 15066 is a specification that supplements ISO 10218, the standard safety specification for industrial robots, and comprehensively covers matters that help perform risk assessment of robot cells when installing collaborative robots. Universal Robots, which participated in the establishment of the new ISO/TS 15066 standard committee, stated that the newly announced guidelines are expected to serve as a solid foundation for the collaborative robot systems field going forward.
