'LUNA', a product that will accelerate the popularization of smartwatches

SK Telecom announced on the 18th that it will launch the 'LUNA Watch,' a fashion smartwatch with the cost-effectiveness of 'LUNA.'

The 'Luna Watch' features communication functions at a launch price in the 100,000 won range. Based on its proven product planning capabilities through 'Luna' and 'Sol', SK Telecom expects to accelerate the popularization of smartwatches this time.

SK Telecom collaborated closely with the manufacturer from the planning stage of the 'Luna Watch' to achieve the best value for money through competitive hardware specifications. It features: ▲ 3G communication capabilities that allow for voice and text transmission and reception independently without a smartphone; ▲ the thinnest thickness (11.3mm) and lightest weight (58g) among products equipped with a communication module; ▲ the largest memory in its class (1GB RAM/ 8GB ROM) supporting fast operation speeds and storage of large-capacity content (music, photos, etc.); ▲ a 1.6-inch display resistant to external impacts using Gorilla Glass 3; and ▲ a 350mAh battery.

In addition, SK Telecom took into account that existing smartwatch users only use a limited number of applications, so it carefully selected and pre-installed 23 applications with high actual usage frequency and preference. It is equipped with a wide range of practical applications designed by SK Telecom, including 'Melon,' which allows users to play streaming music on the watch; 'T Map Public Transportation,' which displays public transportation arrival times; 'Smart Gesture,' which allows users to conveniently launch applications by drawing user-defined gestures on the screen; 'T Share,' which enables call forwarding to a smartphone without a Bluetooth connection; and 'Remote Camera,' which allows users to control the smartphone camera from a distance to take photos.

The 'Luna Watch' is compatible with smartphones running Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) or higher, and additional pre-installed applications are scheduled to be added through future updates from the manufacturer. The retail price is 198,000 won (including VAT), and it can be purchased for less than 100,000 won with official subsidies.
