Tech Briefs Media Group sponsors “Create the Future”;

Mouser Electronics (www.mouser.com) announced that it will continue to sponsor the 14th “Create the Future” design contest, where engineers and students around the world compete to create great new things. Mouser’s key manufacturing partners, Intel and Analog Devices, are also sponsoring the event again. The contest is hosted by Tech Briefs Media Group, an SAE International Company.

The grand prize winner of the contest will not only gain global recognition but also receive $20,000 in funding to create innovative products that benefit society and the economy. Over the years, the event has attracted participation from engineers, entrepreneurs, and students from more than 100 countries, generating over 12,000 design ideas. Applications are currently open and can be submitted until July 1, 2016.

The “Create The Future” design contest focuses on product designs that improve quality of life, enhance efficiency and healthcare, and reduce reliance on non-renewable energy resources. Reflecting this, past winning entries have included an economical and rapid screening device for preventing food poisoning, a wheelchair propulsion system to increase user mobility while reducing repetitive strain on the upper body, and a mechanism that enables everyone to perform CPR easily and safely.

This contest was launched in 2002 by the editors of NASA Tech Briefs magazine to promote and award engineering innovation. Grand Prize winners are selected in seven fields: Aerospace & Defense, Automotive/Public Transportation, Consumer Electronics, Electronics, Machinery/Automation/Robotics, Medical, and Sustainable Technology.
