15-Watt Wireless Charging Transmitter Module Secures Product Competitiveness Through Convergence of Core IT Technologies

A wireless charging transmitter module for smartphones has been developed that delivers performance equivalent to wired chargers. It significantly enhances convenience by reducing charging time and ensuring compatibility with various charging standards.
LG Innotek (CEO Park Jong-seok) announced that it has developed a 15-watt (W) wireless charging transmitter module capable of supplying the same amount of power as a wired charger.

A wireless charging device consists of a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter supplies power to the smartphone in the form of a charging pad or stand. The receiver is built into the smartphone and charges it by generating an induced current through interaction with the transmitter.

LG Innotek has further upgraded charging speed, compatibility, and expandability through this 15W wireless charging transmitter module.

The 15W wireless charging transmitter module can charge to 50% in 30 minutes from a completely discharged state. This is equivalent to the performance of a wired fast charger. It is three times faster than the existing 5W wireless charging module.

In addition, this product features excellent compatibility with various wireless charging standards. It can be used with most commercially available smartphones. It works with WPC (Wireless Power Consortium) 15W, PMA (Power Matters Alliance) 5W, and also with the recently introduced 9W receiver module. This is because it complies with the standards of both the World Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) and the AirFuel Alliance, international standardization organizations for wireless charging.

LG Innotek's 15W wireless charging transmitter module can be used not only in wireless chargers for homes or offices but also in in-car wireless charging pads. The company has secured automotive electronic component-level quality through strategic cooperation with major power semiconductor chipset manufacturers.

LG Innotek has succeeded in developing a 15W wireless charging transmitter module based on its technological prowess in leading the wireless charging module market and its capabilities in the IT materials and components business. The company's wireless communication, power circuit design, and new materials technologies are at the core.

Starting with the Google Nexus 4 in 2012, this company has been supplying wireless charging receiver modules to global mobile phone manufacturers such as LG Electronics, Motorola, and Kyocera. Last year, it garnered attention by introducing a 5W transmitter module that surpassed a charging efficiency of 70%.

In addition, LG Innotek has internalized the entire process, from the development of wireless charging materials to module design and production, by integrating and combining core technologies. This is why Original Development Manufacturing (ODM) optimized for customer requirements is possible.

LG Innotek plans to actively respond to the wireless charging market, anticipating that it will expand from homes and offices to vehicles and public spaces. The company has already been supplying wireless charging modules to global automakers since June of last year.
