Stratasys Unveils 'Smart Factory' at SIMTOS Exhibition

Stratasys will showcase a 'Smart Factory' utilizing its 3D printing solutions at the '17th SIMTOS 2016', held at KINTEX in Ilsan, Gyeonggi-do from April 13 to 17.
At this exhibition, Stratasys plans to introduce a variety of the latest 3D printing solutions, ranging from desktop 3D printers from its subsidiary MakerBot to industrial systems needed for concept design, prototyping, and manufacturing optimization.
'Smart Factory' is one of the main themes of SIMTOS 2016, and Stratasys plans to present smart factories achievable using its 3D printing solutions through the Smart Factory Stratasys Consortium special pavilion. To this end, Stratasys will implement a smart manufacturing workflow leading from concept design and functional prototyping to digital manufacturing optimization, with LS Mtron, THE FOUNDRY, SOLIDWORKS, and Altair participating as consortium members.
Meanwhile, Stratasys plans to introduce a variety of the latest 3D printing solutions through technical seminars and conferences held during the exhibition. Baran Gumusel, Director of Global Automotive Solutions at Stratasys, and Shiry Saar, Head of MakerBot Asia Pacific, will visit Korea for the SIMTOS CAD/CAM 3D Printing & Scanning Conference to deliver lectures on 3D printing technology trends being applied in the automotive industry and the ecosystem that MakerBot is building in the education market.
In addition, at Stratasys' main booth, various solutions will be introduced through 'Tech Talk' sessions, and visitors can take a firsthand look at Stratasys' diverse 3D printing solutions, ranging from MakerBot's desktop 3D printers to the state-of-the-art 3D manufacturing system, Fortus.
Daniel Thomsen, General Manager of Stratasys Korea, stated, “3D printing not only simplifies manufacturing processes but also dramatically accelerates work speed across various industries by producing customized tools in a cost-effective manner,” adding, “Through this SIMTOS Smart Factory special pavilion, we will further promote the innovative idea of ‘smart manufacturing’ that can be realized through 3D printing.”
SIMTOS is the largest domestic exhibition of production and manufacturing technology that introduces the latest trends in the manufacturing industry. Held biennially, SIMTOS attracts an average of over 100,000 visitors who explore the latest facilities and machinery related to the entire manufacturing industry, including manufacturing tools, smart factories, design, advanced machining technology, and robots.
