Participation in SIMTOS 2016 Machine Tool Exhibition, KR Cybertech Unveils Nano
Boasting a wider working radius and high precision despite its slim and reduced size.

KUKA Robotics Korea Co., Ltd. is participating in the '17th SIMTOS 2016 Exhibition,' an international machine tool exhibition held at KINTEX in Ilsan for five days starting from the 13th, and is showcasing its new product 'KR CYBERTECH nano' series in the low payload robot sector.

The KR Cybertech Nano series, optimized for the metalworking machine tool sector, will showcase a total automation solution by demonstrating welding operations alongside KUKA's industrial robots. KUKA's articulated compact robot, the KR Agilus, secures the workpiece and performs delicate positioning, while the KR Cybertech Nano executes 360-degree welding operations requiring high precision.


The KR Cybertech Nano Series, introduced to the domestic market for the first time at 'SIMTOS 2016', boasts the best power and advanced performance among industrial robots of its class capable of safely handling objects with a load of 6 to 10 kg.

Despite having a larger payload and a wide and long working radius of 23 m³, it is 47% smaller than the previous model, the KR 6-2, and features repeatability of 0.04 mm and agility. In addition, it can reach areas that are difficult for existing robots to access, and can be attached anywhere regardless of floor, wall, ceiling, or angle, maximizing space utilization.
KUKA has the world's most diverse product line by subdividing the payload and working radius of the KR Cybertech Nano series, and provides products and solutions optimally suited to user environments.

The KR Cybertech Nano series is broadly divided into two types. The KR Cybertech Arc Nano, a model optimized for welding and the application of adhesives and sealants, comes in three types based on working radii of 1,820mm, 1,620mm, and 1,420mm, and payload capacities of 6kg and 8kg. Additionally, the KR Cybertech Nano, capable of moving and assembling small parts, loading, and welding, consists of a total of six product types featuring working radii of 1,820mm, 1,620mm, and 1,420mm, payload capacities of 6kg, 8kg, and 10kg, and protection ratings of IP65 and IP67.

In particular, the entire robot body, with an IP65 protection rating, is completely protected against dust and high-pressure water, while the robot's wrist, rated IP67, can withstand high surface temperatures, large amounts of dust, lubricants, and coolants, and shows no adverse effects from temporary intrusion.

Lee Chang-hoon, CEO of KUKA Robotics Korea, stated, “The KR CyberTech Nano series boasts superior power and performance compared to comparable products in the low payload robot class,” adding, “KUKA will provide customers with 24-hour hotline support as well as customized responses and training optimized for individual production sites.”

At the KUKA Robotics Korea booth at 'SIMTOS 2016', organized by the Korea Machine Tool Industry Association, visitors can also see the LBR iiwa, an intelligent industrial robot capable of collaborating with humans that received significant attention at the 2015 Creative Economy Expo. In addition, the small multi-jointed robot KR Agilus, which became a hot topic for its table tennis match with Timo Boll, a world-class table tennis player and KUKA ambassador, will also be on display.
