Announcing a new data collection solution to support the Industrial Internet of Things.

Moxa announced the launch of a new data acquisition solution to support various Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).

The new ioLogik™ 2542-WL1 and ioLogik 2512-WL1 support 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi connectivity, making them ideal for a variety of devices and M2M applications requiring wireless communication. The ioLogik 2542-WL1 supports analog I/O connections over Wi-Fi, while the ioLogik 2512-WL1 supports digital I/O connections over Wi-Fi.
With the addition of these two models, Moxa now offers a more comprehensive range of flexible data acquisition solutions that can be used across wired Ethernet, Wi-Fi, 2G GPRS, and 3G HSPA networks. “Moxa aims to enable industrial users to easily collect and share sensor data in a variety of environments and situations,” said Wenyuan Niu, Director of Product Marketing at Moxa. “Wi-Fi is an increasingly popular communication technology for use in the field or remote locations. These new wireless models will enable users to leverage Wi-Fi for data acquisition.”

These two ioLogik units can automatically generate and report tags for connected sensors and devices. This feature allows operators to efficiently monitor large numbers of field devices and, by working with Moxa's MX-AOPC UA server in the cloud, minimizes network bandwidth and latency. It also uses advanced encryption and authentication to protect data communications with the highest commercially available security level (WPA2/802.11i).

The ioLogik™ 2542-WL1 and 2512-WL1 with Wi-Fi provide a 4-port unmanaged Ethernet switch and 2 serial ports, allowing connection to a variety of field devices. The serial ports support data polling from devices using the Modbus RTU protocol, converting this data to Modbus TCP or AOPC tag format and transmitting it over an Ethernet network. These models can communicate with multiple remote I/O devices using a single IP address. The slave Ethernet ports can connect up to 8 daisy-chained ioLogik E1200 expansion modules, allowing over 100 channels to be converted to a single IP address. The remaining three Ethernet ports can be connected to any Ethernet-powered field device.

Moxa's ioLogik line is designed for easy management and configuration. It features patented Click&Go Plus logic, enabling local data logging and control using a simple IF-THEN-ELSE framework. Custom real-time alerts can be easily configured, with notifications available via SMS, email, and SNMP traps. Users can create configurations offline using Moxa's IOxpress software and upload them to online devices. This can significantly reduce the time and cost involved in configuring and maintaining equipment.

The ioLogik 2542-WL1 and 2512-WL1 are designed for industrial ruggedness and can withstand operating temperatures from -30°C to 70°C (-22°F to 158°F). Both models also offer high levels of EMI protection and are housed in a rugged, shock-resistant housing.
