Siemens PLM Software Signs Industry-Academic Cooperation Agreement for Smart Factory Education and Training
Published2016.05.19 17:35Siemens PLM Software Korea announced that it has signed an industry-academia cooperation agreement for smart factory education and training with design software company AUCOTEC and Daejeon University. This cooperation was concluded with the purpose of fostering specialized talent for smart factories, strengthening the smart factory education system, and promoting the development of the smart factory industry.
The government is actively promoting the establishment of smart factories as part of the Manufacturing 3.0 strategy. According to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, a total of 963 smart factories had been established as of October 2015. The government plans to convert approximately 10,000 small and medium-sized manufacturing plants into smart factories by 2020. In addition, to address youth unemployment and the shortage of skilled personnel in small and medium-sized enterprises, the government is actively working to foster specialized software talent in fields such as design and engineering required for key sectors like smart factories.
In this collaboration, Siemens PLM Software provides high-quality education related to 3D modeling, analysis, and manufacturing based on its mainstream engineering products, such as Solid Edge, Femap, and CAM Express, to students at Daejeon University.

Each institution plans to collaborate on the development of smart factory training programs, textbooks, and training techniques to support students in gaining field experience and securing a competitive edge in the fierce job market. In addition, experts with extensive industrial experience will participate as instructors to develop specialized smart factory personnel.
Meanwhile, earlier this year, Siemens PLM Software supplied its Solid Edge, Femap, and CAM Express solutions to the 2016 Regional Industry-Tailored Workforce Training Project organized by the HRD Business Group of Daejeon University. In addition, it is conducting a specialized course in smart factory automation design in cooperation with Daejeon University.

Siemens PLM and Local Motors Sign Partnership for 3D-Printed Vehicle Development
지멘스 PLM 소프트웨어는 자동차 제조기업인 로컬 모터스(Local Motors)와 파트너십을 체결한다고 밝혔다. 두 회사는 대규모(large-scale)의 3D 프린팅 기반의 차량 개발을 위해 힘을 모을 계획이다. 이 파트너십을 통해 지멘스 PLM 소프트웨어의 기술은 직접 디지털 제조(DDM: Direct Digital Manufacturing)라고 일컫는 프로세스 같은 공동창작(co-created) 및 3D 프린팅 방식의 차량 부문에서의 로컬 모터스 리더십을 결합하게 된다. 제품 개발의 미래에 대한 공통된 비전을 바탕으로, 로컬 모터스는 회사의 로컬 모터스(LM) 랩 프로그램의 생산성 향상을 기대하고 있다. 이를 위해 지멘스의 디지털 트윈 분야의 전문성을 활용할 계획이다. 반면 지멘스는 디지털 엔터프라이즈 소프트웨어 스위트(Digital enterprise software suite)를 보강해, 3D 프린팅 분야에 대한 지원 역량을 강화할 수 있을 것으로 기대하고 있다.

Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'

Ecolab Expands AI Data Center Cooling Business Through Acquisition of CoolIT
이콜랩이 AI 데이터센터용 액체 냉각 기업 쿨아이티 시스템즈를 약 47억5천만달러에 인수하기로 했다. 거래는 규제 승인 등을 거쳐 2026년 3분기 안에 마무리될 예정이다. 쿨아이티는 직접 칩 냉각 기반의 냉각수 분배 장치, 콜드 플레이트, 매니폴드 등을 공급해온 기업으로, 하이퍼스케일 데이터센터와 코로케이션 사업자를 고객으로 두고 있다. 이번 인수는 AI 확산으로 커진 고발열·고밀도 서버 환경에 대응하기 위한 조치로, 이콜랩은 자사의 물 관리·디지털 모니터링 역량과 쿨아이티의 하드웨어 기술을 결합해 데이터센터 냉각 사업을 넓힐 계획이다.
