The 'Galaxy Tab Iris' is a 7-inch tablet featuring a 5-megapixel rear camera and an iris recognition camera that can recognize both eyes simultaneously to securely verify biometric information.
The 'Galaxy Tab Iris' is expected to be utilized in India for e-government services including banking, passport issuance, tax filing, healthcare, and education by leveraging iris recognition technology and various applications.
Samsung Electronics' 'Galaxy Tab Iris' is expected to help promote 'Digital India,' an information technology (IT) activation policy pursued by the Indian government, by providing convenient and easy personal biometric authentication services.
The Indian government is pursuing Aadhaar, a project that registers iris and fingerprint information of approximately 1.2 billion Indian citizens and issues biometric identification cards.
The 'Galaxy Tab Iris' can be utilized for biometric information registration and authentication by UIDAI (Unique Identity Authority of India), the Indian identification card issuance authority promoting Aadhaar, and is expected to be used in banking and financial sectors for personal information verification, government services, and other applications by quickly and securely recognizing iris patterns.
The 'Galaxy Tab Iris' is priced at 13,499 Indian Rupees (approximately 236,000 Korean Won).
