Participation in 'SES Industry Day' held in Luxembourg
Proving advanced technology in next-generation European HDR broadcasting

LG Electronics showcased Europe's next-generation broadcasting technology with a groundbreaking OLED TV.

LG Electronics participated in the 'SES Industry Day' held in Luxembourg, Europe for two days starting on the 26th local time and demonstrated High Dynamic Range (HDR) satellite broadcasting in real time using the LG Ultra OLED TV (model name: OLED65E6).

The HDR satellite broadcast demonstrated by LG Electronics uses the HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) standard. HLG is an HDR broadcasting standard led by the BBC in the UK, NHK in Japan, and others.


Since HDR broadcasts cannot be viewed on TVs equipped with HDR capabilities, broadcasters must transmit standard broadcasts alongside HDR broadcasts for the benefit of standard TV users. However, by utilizing the HLG standard, standard TVs can watch the broadcast even if only HDR is transmitted, allowing broadcasters to use frequency spectrum more efficiently. Recognizing these advantages, HLG was adopted as the standard for HDR satellite broadcasting in Japan last year and is also attracting attention as a leading HDR satellite broadcasting standard in Europe.

HDR expresses the dark and bright parts of the screen with greater depth, delivering a vividness that feels like seeing it live at the scene. LG OLED TVs can achieve perfect black because each pixel emits light without a backlight, maximizing the HDR effect.

LG Ultra OLED TVs perfectly reproduce HDR video in various standards, including 'HDR 10,' the most common HDR standard, and 'Dolby Vision™,' created by Dolby. 'Dolby Vision' is the HDR format most widely adopted by Hollywood video production companies such as Netflix, Warner Bros., Universal, and MGM. LG Electronics is the only company in Korea that supports 'Dolby Vision' through its LG Ultra OLED TVs and Super Ultra HD TVs.

SES is Europe's largest satellite broadcaster with over 300 million subscribers worldwide. Every year, SES hosts SES Industry Day to introduce the latest technologies in wired and wireless telecommunications and broadcasting together with related companies.
