Samsung Electronics Conducts Clinical Study with 34-Inch SE790C Curved Monitor… Results to be Announced at SID

A research team at Harvard Medical School announced clinical research results showing that Samsung Electronics' curved monitors are visually comfortable.

Professor Eli Peli and Professor Gang Luo of Harvard Medical School and their research team conducted a clinical study to analyze the eye strain reduction effects of curved monitors and presented the results at the SID (The Society for Information Display) International Symposium seminar on the 26th (local time).

A research team at Harvard University conducted this clinical study using Samsung Electronics’ 34-inch (86.4 cm) curved monitor SE790C under the theme “Comparison of Flat and Curved Monitors: Eyestrain Caused by the Intensive Visual Search Task.”


According to research results, comparative tests of curved and flat monitors showed that curved monitors significantly reduced eye strain, decreased concentration, and blurred vision compared to flat monitors. In addition, it was confirmed that there is less slowdown in the maximum speed of left and right eye movements when using a curved monitor.

Meanwhile, a study on the visual comfort of curved monitors presented last year by Professor Kim Sung-jun's team, an ophthalmologist at Seoul National University Hospital, at the 114th Annual Meeting of the Korean Ophthalmological Society, also confirmed that curved monitors help reduce eye fatigue for modern people who use monitors for long periods.

Samsung Electronics' curved monitors are gaining great popularity among consumers, having surpassed 1 million units in sales last March.
