Commitment to Technology/Personnel Exchange for Fostering Next-Generation Leaders in the Security Field

LG Electronics is partnering with the Korea Institute of Information Technology Research (KITRI) to actively foster white hackers.

LG Electronics and the Korea Information Technology Research Institute (KITRI) held a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the "Training and Cooperation of IT Security Experts" at the KITRI Gangnam BoB Education Center on the 13th. The event was attended by Min Kyung-oh, Head of LG Electronics Software Center (Vice President), Yoo Jun-sang, President of KITRI, and others.

In the memorandum of understanding, both parties pledged to ▲ exchange technology and personnel to foster IT information security experts, ▲ provide mutual support for educational programs to enhance IT information security capabilities, and ▲ jointly promote security expert training projects.


LG Electronics is supporting software experts from its CTO (Chief Technology Officer) division to serve as mentors for the 5th cohort of the 'Best of the Best (BoB)' program. It also plans to provide BoB trainees with the opportunity to gain practical experience in security projects conducted by the CTO division.

The 'Next Generation Security Leader Training Program,' organized by the Korea Information Technology Institute, is a program designed to foster top experts in the security field. It is known as a breeding ground for white hackers, having produced over 400 security experts over the past four years. Last year, graduates of this program became the first in Asia to win DEFCON, the world's most prestigious hacking defense competition.

Min Kyung-oh, Senior Research Fellow (Vice President) and Head of LG Electronics’ Software Center, emphasized, “Securing specialized personnel in the security field is essential to earning customer trust in our products,” adding, “We will actively engage in fostering next-generation security experts through cooperation with the Korea Information Technology Research Institute.”
