Security chip optimized to provide the highest security level (CC EAL5+)

STMicroelectronics (ST) has launched the STSAFE-A100, a new, easy-to-use yet powerful security chip. It protects connected devices in consumer and industrial IoT environments and prevents cloning and copying by verifying their authenticity.

This new product has received the highest level of security certification and is supported by a wide range of ecosystems, enabling design without expert-level security expertise.

Consumer products, home appliances, industrial assets, and equipment controllers are already, or will soon be, connected to the Internet. Most are designed to operate autonomously. What's needed now is state-of-the-art electronic security features to prevent hacker intrusions, such as forgery, tampering, and data theft, as well as product misuse.

ST's new STSAFE-A100 is a secure turnkey solution that brings ST's proven expertise in electronic security, including banking, e-commerce, and personal data protection, to the Internet of Things. As a security chip, it provides authentication functions, can be used with general microcontrollers, has a built-in secure operating system, and is certified to Common Criteria EAL5+[1], a financial-level security industry standard.

ST offers a complete ecosystem, including expansion boards with Arduino headers, microcontroller libraries, and implementation references, to help customers easily integrate this new security chip into their designs. This allows the STSAFE-A100 to be easily integrated with any microcontroller in the STM32 family.

The STSAFE-A100 is scheduled to enter volume production in July 2016 in either a 4mm x 5mm SO8N or 2mm x 3mm UFDFPN8 package. Pricing and samples are available from ST's Korean office.
