First commercialization of semiconductor cleaning and coating in Korea
Established a global infrastructure by owning two domestic and four overseas fabs.

Komico (www.komico.com) is the first company in Korea to commercialize semiconductor cleaning and coating.

It was established in August 2013 as an affiliate of the Mico Group, founded in 1996, by spinning off a specialized cleaning and coating business unit for semiconductor components. As a newly established entity resulting from a spin-off in 2013, it recorded a 19.2% increase in sales in 2015 compared to 2014. Its parent company, Mico (formerly Comico), has been developing cleaning and regeneration technologies for high-value consumable parts used in semiconductor/LCD manufacturing equipment for the past 18 years.

The Technology Research Institute (established in April 1998) has expanded its cleaning field to include not only the Etch process but also the entire semiconductor process such as CVD and Sputter, and has also entered the display business including LCD, PDP, and Organic EL.



The company has established a global infrastructure by currently owning two domestic fabs and four overseas fabs. Regarding the company, Vice President Park Yoon-soo stated, “We contribute to improving customer yield and reducing costs by providing professional and efficient cleaning and coating for various process equipment used in semiconductor manufacturing processes.”

Comico aims for 200 billion won in sales in 2020, with a target operating profit margin of 20%. It plans to expand sales of new technologies by more than 30% and target a cost ratio of 40% for new products. As Vice President Park stated, this is possible because the goal is to “clean and deliver quickly without delay.”

KoMiCo pursues market expansion through preemptive investments in key locations and portfolio diversification into energy, shipbuilding, and aviation. Currently, Anseong, Gyeonggi-do, serves as the global headquarters for KoMiCo, with a research center and two production fabs in operation. KoMiCo Austin, established in Austin, Texas, USA, conducts business with SAS, Intel, Micron, and others, while KoMiCo Wuxi, located in Wuxi, China, conducts business with Hynix, SMIC, CSOT, and others.

In addition, KoMiCo Hsinchu (based in Taiwan), established in 2006, is doing business with TSMC, UMC, and others, and KoMiCo Singapore, established in 2013, is collaborating with Micron, GlobalFoundries, UMC, and others.

Comico plans to expand its business in the future by developing carbon composite materials used in the solar power and high-temperature heat treatment industries.
