Bang & Olufsen announced on the 7th that it has launched the special edition 'Smoked Oak' of the bestselling wireless speaker 'BeoPlay A9 (BeoPlay A9)'. The new product is characterized by adopting sophisticated colors and materials on the existing form, upgraded to harmonize better with Scandinavian interiors.
The 'BeoPlay A9', which had a rounded dish shape and was called a 'spaceship speaker', features a golden oxidized anodized aluminum rim applied to the speaker frame that evokes an interior object made of brass. This was inspired by metal materials that were popular in high-end European homes of the 19th century.
The speaker cover wrapping a total of five speakers applies wool material from Kvadrat, a Danish luxury textile brand. The wool cover, provided in a single dark gray color, subtly blends the warm feel of the material with the refined tone of the color, radiating appeal. The wool cover helps minimize sound damage as it passes through the fabric, enabling output that is closer to the original sound.
The tripod-shaped wood stand supporting the speaker body also adds sophistication. The smoked oak color, which gives a sophisticated feel by smoking wood, a traditional material of Scandinavian design products, was implemented, and natural oil was applied in the final stage to allow the wood texture to appear naturally.
A Bang & Olufsen official stated, "The new product has a simple and modern form, but through the upgrade in colors and materials, it adds a luxurious atmosphere to Scandinavian interiors in homes," and added, "We expect it to gain attention from domestic trendsetters who seek to use sensibly designed speakers as interior objects."
Meanwhile, the 'BeoPlay A9' realizes a rich sound of up to 480W with balanced bass and treble through a pair of 3/4-inch tweeters, a pair of 3-inch mid-range drivers, and an 8-inch bass driver. It supports wireless connectivity including Bluetooth as well as AirPlay and Google Cast. The price is 3.5 million won.
