The emergence of LTE-based vehicle control services is expected to make the management of corporate business vehicles more convenient.

LG Uplus (Vice Chairman Kwon Young-soo) announced on the 24th that it has launched a 'Vehicle Control' service that allows users to check the vehicle's location, status information, driving information, and usage history in real time on PCs and smartphones by installing a GPS-equipped LTE communication terminal in a vehicle.

LG Uplus's 'Vehicle Control' service stores various information related to vehicle operation down to the second and transmits it in real-time to a cloud-based vehicle control platform via LG Uplus's LTE network. Vehicle managers can manage business vehicles in an integrated manner simply by logging into the platform on a PC or smartphone, checking their operation status and routes, vehicle condition, and safe driving status in real-time.

After analyzing the collected driving information, it provides economic and safe driving reports*, which not only helps improve drivers' driving habits but also contributes to eco-friendly vehicle management, such as improving fuel efficiency, reducing fuel costs, and decreasing carbon emissions.

In particular, LG Uplus's 'Vehicle Control' service automatically operates the driving date after a business vehicle is reserved on the platform and used by an actual user.Convenience has been enhanced by enabling the generation of logs. Under the revised tax law (April 1, 2016), the submission of business (corporate) vehicle logs to the National Tax Service has become mandatory, so convenient log management can also help with tax benefits.

Unlike existing vehicle control services, which required separate inquiries and purchases for terminals, communication networks, and control services, a key advantage is that all these services can be handled in a one-stop manner. Additionally, since the terminals installed in the vehicles can be controlled remotely, rapid fault identification and immediate action are possible in the event of a failure.

The usage fee for LG Uplus's 'Vehicle Control' service is a monthly flat rate that includes communication costs. Based on a 3-year contract, the rate is 12,000 KRW per vehicle per month for passenger cars (excluding VAT) and 15,000 KRW per vehicle per month for cargo trucks (excluding VAT). This allows small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to manage vehicle control and driving logs at a reasonable monthly rate, even if they are not large corporations with their own in-house systems. To mark the service launch, corporate customers who sign up by September 30th will receive a two-month fee waiver, and LG Uplus is guaranteeing free maintenance for the 3-year contract period—a first in the industry.
