KT Opens IoT Interior Market by Combining IoT with Furniture and Interior Design

KT announced on the 28th that it has signed a "KT-Hanssem, Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for IoT Business Cooperation" with Hanssem Co., Ltd. (Chairman Choi Yang-ha), a comprehensive home interior specialist, to jointly promote smart furniture and interior business and popularize home IoT.
The agreement covers cooperation in ▲developing products and services with home IoT applied, ▲joint marketing in the home IoT sector, ▲utilization through big data analysis, ▲mutual education, technical support, and market development in necessary fields.
By combining KT's home IoT technology and wired/wireless network infrastructure with Hanssem's furniture and interior design capabilities, the company plans to commercialize 'IoT Interior' services within this year and subsequently integrate the IoT platform with products in spaces such as bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens, and bathrooms to enhance personalization and convenience in living spaces.
Additionally, KT will conduct comprehensive cooperation including joint planning and research and development of products and services to provide home environment and safety monitoring, real-time after-sales service, voice recognition, and intelligent IoT services.
Kim Hyung-wook, Head of Platform Business Planning at KT, stated, "By applying KT's IoT technology capabilities to furniture and interior design produced by Hanssem, we expect to enhance competitiveness in the home IoT business and provide customers with new experiences and value." He added, "Going forward, we will continue to expand home IoT business cooperation with Hanssem and develop it as a new future growth engine."
Lee Young-sik, President of Hanssem, stated, "The two companies will join forces to create a new residential environment ecosystem where communication between people and objects and between objects is possible anytime and anywhere," and expressed hope that "this will become an innovative business that can demonstrate to customers what true home IoT service is."

Samsung Electronics is establishing a domestic production system for EHS heat pump boilers at its Gwangju business site in line with the promotion of heating electrification. The company will begin trial production this month on a dedicated line spanning 2,132㎡ and is scheduled to commence full-scale mass production by the end of September, with annual production capacity exceeding 100,000 units. This product generates approximately 5 times the heat relative to input power, recording a seasonal performance coefficient of 4.9, and offers higher energy efficiency compared to fossil fuel-based boilers while reducing carbon emissions.
