Supports 'Expert Settings' for fine-tuning HDR brightness, contrast, and gradation.

Samsung Electronics is taking the lead in HDR (High Dynamic Range) technology by adding the 'HDR Plus (HDR+)' feature to its 2016 Quantum Dot SUHD TVs.

HDR is a core technology of next-generation UHD that significantly improves contrast ratio by making bright areas brighter and dark areas darker, displaying light and colors on the screen that were not visible on conventional TVs.

The newly added 'HDR Plus (HDR+)' is a feature that finds the optimal HDR picture quality for any video, allowing you to properly enjoy TV videos with richer colors and deeper contrast.

When you activate the 'HDR+' function on the 2016 Quantum Dot SUHD TV, you can enjoy videos produced with HDR content with the HDR effect maximized, and also display standard videos (SDR) that are not HDR content with HDR-level picture quality.

For movies with many dark scenes, brightness is enhanced to clearly show objects hidden in the darkness, and for bright images where the background and objects are not well distinguished, such as a snowman standing in white snow, the contrast is increased to show them more clearly.

Features for image quality experts have also been enhanced. It supports 'Expert Settings' that allow for detailed adjustment of video brightness, contrast, and gradation, enabling you to customize HDR effects to your desired level for viewing.

The 'HDR+' function can be easily activated in the 'Special Viewing Mode' during the setup phase, and it automatically completed the update on internet-connected 2016 Quantum Dot SUHD TVs in early July.

Samsung Electronics plans to provide automatic updates for 2016 UHD TVs that support HDR by this coming September.
