Linear Technology Korea (CEO Hong Sa-kwak) announced the release of dual 10A or single 20A µModule® (Power Module) step-down regulators (product name: LTM4631) available in a 16mm x 16mm size and an ultra-thin 1.91mm LGA package. The LTM4631 shares a single heat sink covering the low-profile package, allowing it to be placed on a PC board adjacent to a load such as an FPGA.

Utilizing a small and thin package, the LTM4631 can be mounted on the underside of a circuit board, allowing components such as DDR-QDR memory and transceiver ICs to be freely placed in the upper space. This product is used in applications such as embedded systems, data storage systems, gateway controllers, and plug-in and mezzanine cards for 40Gbps to 100Gbps networks.

The LTM4631 operates from an input power supply of 4.5V to 15V and regulates the output voltage in the range of 0.6V to 1.8V, exhibiting a total DC output voltage error of up to ±1.5% in the range of –40°C to 125°C. The two outputs operate in 180º out-of-phase, and when sharing output current, the two outputs can provide 10A or 20A respectively.

The two devices can share current, providing up to 40A while minimizing input and output ripple current. This device provides output overcurrent foldback and overvoltage protection.
