AJ Networks Rental Business Cooperation Expected to Significantly Enhance Management Efficiency

SK Telecom is diversifying its application areas by integrating 'LoRa,' a dedicated network for the Internet of Things (IoT), into its rental business for the first time.

SK Telecom (CEO Jang Dong-hyun), AJ Networks (CEO Ban Chae-woon), and Samsung SDS (CEO Chung Yoo-sung) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the 24th at the AJ Networks headquarters in Munjeong-dong to integrate IoT into rental products.

Through this MoU, the three companies plan to strengthen the competitiveness of rental product services by incorporating SK Telecom's IoT dedicated network 'LoRa,' which completed its nationwide network construction last July, into rental products that are difficult to monitor.

SK Telecom provides a dedicated IoT network as well as communication services for integration with rental products, Samsung SDS provides an IoT-based remote management solution, and AJ Networks provides an environment for pilot services.

SK Telecom is the only company in Korea to possess a hybrid IoT network that combines 'LTE-M,' an IoT network utilizing existing LTE, with 'LoRa,' a dedicated IoT network. In this collaboration, 'LoRa,' which has excellent cost competitiveness, will be applied first to the rental business.

AJ Networks is the leading company in Korea in the rental sector for office automation equipment and aerial work platforms such as hydraulic ladders and lifts.It continues to grow year after year and is receiving high attention in the rental service sector. Based on this agreement, AJ Networks plans to improve the operational efficiency of its rental business and create an environment for a new leap forward.

Samsung SDS, which supplies world-class IoT solutions to various industries including manufacturing, telecommunications, and distribution, plans to provide Samsung SDS RMS (Remote Management Solution), an IoT-based remote management solution, to successfully combine its IoT dedicated network with the rental business.

Taking this MoU, the first instance of combining a dedicated IoT network with rental products, as a starting point, the three companies are considering a plan to first integrate IoT networks into office automation equipment such as computers and multifunction printers, which were difficult to manage after being rented out, and then expand their service scope to various rental products.

SK Telecom’s Kwon Song, Head of IoT Solutions Division; AJ Networks’ Chae Ui-seok, Head of IT Division; and Samsung SDS’s Jang Hwa-jin, Head of Analytics IoT Business Team, attended the signing ceremony and pledged close collaboration among the three companies for the successful combination of the rental business and IoT.

Jang Hwa-jin, Head of the Analytics IoT Business Team at Samsung SDS, stated, “The integration of LoRa and Samsung SDS RMS will serve as a foundation for the expansion of the IoT market,” adding, “We will leverage Samsung SDS’s software capabilities to contribute to enhancing customer value for AJ Networks.”

Kwon Song, Head of the IoT Solution Division at SK Telecom, said, “We have completed the construction of a nationwide network for the first time in the world.“We have decided to apply the dedicated IoT network ‘LoRa’ as a B2B business model,” they stated. “We will actively cooperate with Samsung SDS and AJ Networks to do our best to strengthen the competitiveness of rental products and increase the productivity and management costs of business partners through the dedicated IoT network.”
