Business agreement with KEA to establish manufacturing IoT collaboration infrastructure among KEA member companies and promote new product development

Samsung SDS is stepping up its IoT support for small and medium-sized enterprises.

Samsung SDS (CEO Yoo-Sung Chung) announced on the 30th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Korea Electronics and Information & Communication Industry Association (KEA, Chairman Oh-Hyun Kwon) to support IoT (Internet of Things) for small and medium-sized enterprises.

KEA established the Electronic IoT Collaboration Center last year and has been supporting domestic small and medium-sized enterprises in developing new IoT-based convergence products.

This agreement is part of an effort to create a manufacturing IoT collaboration infrastructure between large enterprises and small and medium-sized enterprises using Samsung SDS’s IoT platform, Insator™, and to promote the development of new products.


Under this agreement, Samsung SDS will provide its Insator to KEA member companies as a Platform as a Service (PaaS), open up related technologies necessary for product development, and actively support new data-based service development activities.

Accordingly, KEA member companies will be able to use device integration modules, APIs (Application Programming Interfaces), and management portals through Insator provided by Samsung SDS, and also receive technical support from Samsung SDS.

Furthermore, Samsung SDS and KEA operate a standards community and host forums to support inter-company cooperation and the development of new IoT convergence products, among other things.We plan to jointly promote information exchange activities. The KEA will play a role in supporting the strengthening of member companies' global competitiveness by encouraging the use of IoT platforms and developing and operating educational programs.

Both companies agreed to build a domestic IoT-based collaboration ecosystem through these activities and ultimately support KEA member companies in expanding into global markets, and decided to identify continuous cooperation models.

KEA Vice Chairman Nam In-seok stated, “We are working to revitalize the domestic IoT ecosystem through the Electronic IoT Collaboration Center, which opened last September, and through this cooperation with Samsung SDS, KEA member companies will be able to quickly demonstrate various IoT business scenarios.”

Hong Won-pyo, President and Head of Samsung SDS’s Solution Business Division, stated, “This will be a great opportunity for Samsung SDS, which has accumulated IoT technology capabilities over many years, to contribute to helping small and medium-sized enterprises secure global competitiveness,” adding, “We will strive to further develop our IoT platform so that Samsung SDS and KEA member companies can grow together.”
