LG Electronics has finally unveiled the 'LG V20,' the successor to the 'LG V10' and the second smartphone in the 'V Series.'

The 'LG V20,' unveiled following the recent Samsung Galaxy Note 7 recall, is receiving even more intense interest. Designed to provide customers with a deeper and richer mobile experience, the 'LG V20' is a premium flagship smartphone that will be launched through the three major domestic mobile carriers in late September and subsequently supplied to the global market in stages.

LG Electronics CEO and Head of the MC Business Division, Cho Jun-ho, emphasized, “The LG V20 has enhanced the perfection of the audio and video features that were well-received in the V10,” adding, “We expect the LG V20 to provide customers with the best multimedia experience and set a new standard for premium phones.”

The meeting of 'Quad DAC' and 'B&O'

The LG V20 is the world's first device to feature a Quad DAC (Digital-to-Analog Converter). Through close collaboration with ESS, a high-performance audio chipset manufacturer, the Quad DAC in the V20 reduces noise by up to 50% compared to a Single DAC, providing sound close to the original source. It provides a sound clear enough to feel the singer's inhalation and exhalation, the sound of a bow touching strings, and even the subtle vibration of guitar strings.

That is not all. They emphasized that it can play high-resolution audio sources up to 32-bit, 384 kHz, which is more than 16 times better than CD quality (16-bit, 44.1 kHz). With the Up-bit and Up-Sampling functions first introduced in the 'LG V10,' even standard audio sources, including streaming, can be played back at near-original quality up to 32-bit, 384 kHz. In particular, LG explained that they achieved world-class smartphone audio quality through collaboration with the global audio brand 'B&O PLAY.'

LG Electronics tuned the included bundled earphones with 'B&O Play' to ensure consumers can fully enjoy B&O sound as soon as they purchase the product. The company also engraved the 'B&O' logo on the earphones to add a sense of pride regarding the premium sound.

The 'LG V20' adds the joy of recording music as well as the pleasure of listening. LG Electronics equipped the 'LG V20' with a 'high-quality recording' feature. 'High-quality recording' can record at a maximum of 24-bit, 192 kilohertz quality, which is 6.5 times better than CD quality (16-bit, 44.1 kilohertz).

In particular, the LG V20 supports a 'Studio Mode' feature that allows users to add their own singing or instrument playing to pre-recorded backing tracks, enabling the creation of their own music. For example, users can easily record up to 24-bit audio for audition submission even at home.

The LG V20 is equipped with an even more powerful Steady Record 2.0, enabling more stable and shake-free video recording. Steady Record 2.0 achieves enhanced results by combining the gyro sensor-based Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) with Digital Image Stabilization (DIS), which analyzes and corrects the position of subjects within the frame.

World's first equipped with front and rear wide-angle cameras

The LG V20 is equipped with a 16-megapixel standard angle camera with a 75-degree field of view and an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera with a 135-degree field of view on the rear. On the front, it features a single 5-megapixel wide-angle camera with a 120-degree field of view.

The front wide-angle camera allows 7 to 8 people to take a photo together without a selfie stick, and the rear wide-angle camera is advantageous for capturing expansive natural landscapes. For example, when taking a commemorative photo in front of a large building, you can take a picture without the building being cut off even if you don't shoot from a distance. The 'LG V20' is equipped with 'Hybrid Auto Focus,' allowing for fast and stable shooting in any environment.

LG Electronics has enhanced user convenience by equipping the 'LG V20' with an upgraded 'Second Screen'.



'Second Screen' is a feature that allows a single display to be used like two independent screens. It supports an 'Always-on' function that displays basic information such as weather, time, day of the week, date, and battery status, as well as notifications for text messages and social media, 24 hours a day, even when the main screen is off. LG Electronics has improved visibility by increasing the brightness of the 'Second Screen' by approximately double compared to its predecessor, the 'LG V10,' and increasing the text size by up to 50%.

The LG V20 also supports Google's new search feature, 'In-Apps'. Through 'In-Apps', users can comprehensively search the content of apps installed on their smartphone. LG Electronics has enhanced convenience on the V20 by equipping it with a "shortcut app" that allows direct access to the "In-Apps" search screen.

LG Electronics harmoniously combined luxurious metal materials with new impact-resistant materials in the LG V20 to realize practical beauty combined with durability. The rear cover of the LG V20 was manufactured using AL6013 aluminum, a material primarily used in aircraft and yachts. The rear cover features a rounded structure with curved edges on both sides, making it resistant to twisting and bending.

LG Electronics used 'Silicone Polycarbonate (Si-PC)' material, which is used in racing helmets, for the top and bottom of the 'LG V20'. 'Silicone Polycarbonate' is more than 20% more impact-resistant than standard 'polycarbonate' material, which is mainly used in hard-shell travel suitcases. LG Electronics is releasing the 'LG V20' in a total of three colors: 'Titan', 'Silver', and 'Pink'.
