Wind River Launches VxWorks Client for IBM Watson IoT Platform
Published2016.10.05 10:41Wind River, a leading software company specializing in the Internet of Things (IoT), announced today the launch of a VxWorks client for the IBM Watson IoT platform, a real-time operating system (RTOS).
Wind River and IBM jointly developed a client for the IBM Watson IoT platform as part of their collaboration to help industrial customers build IoT solutions. Industrial market customers can simplify the development of smart connected devices and streamline their development processes through an "edge-to-cloud end-to-end recipe" that encompasses everything from the edge to the cloud.
As the first VxWorks client for cloud service providers through this product integration, Wind River plans to provide a wider range of integration examples in the future to ensure diverse customer choices.

The VxWorks client for IBM Watson IoT enables IoT devices based on VxWorks to connect directly to the IBM Watson IoT platform. The client is designed based on the IBM Watson IoT SDK, and IoT developers can develop devices using VxWorks and leverage the IBM Watson IoT platform and IBM Bluemix cloud services.
Lee Ju-yeon, Deputy Manager overseeing Wind River's domestic industrial market and IoT business division, stated, "With the addition of this client to VxWorks, which addresses development challenges experienced when building intelligent connected systems through safety, security, and virtualization capabilities, Wind River's position as the optimal RTOS for IoT environments has been further solidified." To ensure maximum flexibility for customers, Wind River plans to integrate a wider variety of clients into VxWorks in the near future, allowing customers to choose their cloud service provider.
The VxWorks client for IBM Watson IoT is currently available for download from the VxWorks Marketplace.
