Dell EMC Successfully Hosts First Official Event in Korea, 'Dell EMC Forum 2016'
Presenting Key Issues and Solutions for Enterprise IT, and Preparing for Digital Transformation

"Dell EMC Forum 2016," the first official domestic event of Dell Technologies—the world's largest privately held IT company formed through the merger of Dell and EMC—was successfully held on October 11 at the Grand Intercontinental Seoul Parnas in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Building upon the legacy of the 13-year-old EMC Forum, "Dell EMC Forum 2016" was attended by over 1,600 IT industry professionals and customers, as well as 17 domestic and international sponsors.

Dell EMC Forum 2016, Dell EMC’s first official integrated event, presented key topics for the present and future of enterprise IT in line with the theme "Let the Transformation Begin," and introduced Dell EMC’s vision, strategy, and solutions.

Frank Hauck, President of Customer and Market Strategy at Dell EMC headquarters, delivered the keynote speech at the event and presented the importance of rapid change and digital transformation, as well as the path forward.

President Frank pointed out that the number of connected devices, which stood at 8 billion in 2015 (1.1 per person), would surge to 200 billion in 2031 (about 7 per person), and that the use of information and data produced exponentially would become a key challenge for the future.

In addition, citing Moore's Law, which states that computing power doubles every 18 months, it was suggested that IT infrastructure in 2021 would be 10 times more powerful than it is now, and 1,000 times more powerful in 2031, in accordance with Moore's Law, which states that it increases tenfold every five years. It was explained that analyzing a single human genome, which currently takes 36 hours, will be reduced to 94 seconds by 2031, and the cost will also decrease from $1,000 to $1.

It was emphasized that the current era, characterized by a coexistence of traditional workloads and new IT infrastructure for the future, is a time of digital transformation, and only companies that respond quickly, proactively, and wisely will survive. To achieve this, it was stated that companies must increase speed and minimize management effort and costs through the optimization of traditional workloads, while simultaneously investing in application environments specialized for the cloud.

Kim Kyung-jin, Senior Vice President at Dell EMC headquarters and President of Enterprise Business Korea, who served as the second keynote speaker, introduced the new birth of Dell EMC, which possesses the largest portfolio in the IT industry, and announced Dell EMC's vision to help companies build modern infrastructure for the future. President Kim Kyung-jin explained that Dell EMC can reduce complexity, time, and costs in purchasing, testing, deployment, and after-sales support services by providing integrated solutions from a single vendor, enabling rapid adaptation to third-generation platforms ranging from mobile and big data to the cloud. He also announced plans to showcase a variety of products that maximize merger synergies, such as converged infrastructure that combines Dell servers with EMC's software-defined data center technology.

Following the keynote speech in the morning, 20 sessions were held featuring Dell EMC and leading enterprises in the enterprise industry. Divided into four tracks—Modern Infrastructure, Converged Systems, Cloud, and Technical Guru—the sessions introduced various latest trends and technologies related to digital transformation. Attendees were able to experience firsthand the latest technologies related to modern infrastructure, converged systems, and cloud environments, prepared by Dell EMC as well as domestic and international partners, at the 'Pavilion' exhibition space.

Meanwhile, a total of 17 sponsors participated in Dell EMC's forum, including Brocade, LG CNS, VMware, Cisco, Data Solution, Intek & Company, Korea Information Engineering, Kolon Benit, AIComm, Azwell Plus, C&One, Greenbell Systems, Hortonworks, Insung Information, LB Tech, TmaxSoft, and Winsroad.
