Dell EMC Unveils New Hyper-Converged 'VxRail' and 'VxRack'
Dell EMC Hyper-Converged Product Family Equipped with PowerEdge Servers, Providing 40% Higher CPU Performance

Dell Technologies (Chairman and CEO Michael Dell) unveiled a large number of new products equipped with 'PowerEdge' servers in its Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) product line at 'Dell EMC World 2016,' held in Austin, Texas, USA, starting on the 18th (local time).

The newly introduced 'VxRail' and 'VxRack' are a combined product of technologies from three brands—Dell, EMC, and VMware—which hold the top spots in the server, storage, and virtualization sectors, respectively, supporting a variety of workloads with enhanced performance and cost-effectiveness.

Dell EMC's new VxRail and VxRack are based on Dell EMC PowerEdge servers, which ranked first in global x86 server sales in the second quarter of this year. Combined with PowerEdge servers equipped with Intel's latest Broadwell processors, these new products leverage a world-class supply chain to enable Dell EMC to provide fast and integrated services from the order stage to after-sales support as a single vendor.

First, VxRail, the industry's only hyper-converged appliance specifically developed and optimized for VMware environments, integrates with PowerEdge servers to deliver 40% higher CPU performance at the same price point. All-flash node capacity has doubled, and flexibility and scalability have been further enhanced through various configurations. Additionally, the minimum cost of deployment has been reduced by 25% compared to the previous version.

It supports various workloads requiring high-performance storage, such as big data analytics and Microsoft Exchange, through the latest Intel processors and high-density storage nodes. Furthermore, it is suitable for graphics-intensive client virtualization workloads, such as the latest operating systems like Microsoft Windows 10, CAD, CAM, and research and development applications. It can easily handle graphics-intensive workloads by supporting GPU acceleration through the NVIDIA Tesla M60, a GPU optimized for advanced computing technologies like deep learning, and NVIDIA's GRID software, a GPU-based desktop virtualization platform.

Dell EMC’s VxRack System 1000, equipped with PowerEdge servers, is the industry’s only rack-scale hyper-converged system featuring a Spine-Leaf network architecture that simplifies the traditional three-tier network (core, distribution, and access) into two tiers, as well as SDN (Software Defined Network) options. Optimized for data centers requiring enterprise-grade resilience and easy scalability, this new product integrated with PowerEdge servers provides 40% more capacity and enhanced CPUs without increasing floor space or costs.

Among the newly added models, the 'VXRack All-Flash' particularly improves cost efficiency by providing 2.5 times more available capacity at a similar price to existing models. Additionally, by accelerating applications through SanDisk DAS Cache to increase storage I/O speeds and reduce response latency, it enhances the performance of applications requiring high-speed I/O, such as Microsoft SQL OLTP.
