Lenovo Unveils Amazon 'Alexa'-Based 'Lenovo Smart Assistant' at CES 2017
Recognizing voice commands to perform various functions, also unveiled a digital security storage solution

Lenovo unveiled the 'Lenovo Smart Assistant,' a digital personal assistant developed in collaboration with Amazon, at 'CES 2017.'

Equipped with Amazon Alexa cloud-based voice service capabilities, the 'Lenovo Smart Assistant' recognizes users' voice commands to perform functions such as web searches, music playback, list creation, and schedule management. Furthermore, it supports not only Lenovo smart home devices but also a wide range of existing third-party products, providing users with diverse options.

The Lenovo Smart Assistant is equipped with eight 360-degree far-field microphones featuring noise suppression and acoustic echo cancellation (AEC) that can capture user voice commands from a distance of up to 5 meters. It also offers premium audio quality through the optional Harman Kardon Special Edition. The colors consist of light gray, green, and orange.

Johnson Jia, Senior Vice President of Lenovo’s PCSD Group, explained, “The ‘smart’ status of a product is determined by how well it actually understands and utilizes the user’s daily life,” while Steve Rabuchin, Vice President of Amazon Alexa, stated, “Lenovo Smart Assistant achieved this by utilizing AVS (Alexa Voice Services). We expect customers to be able to pilot this product in the second half of this year.”

Along with this, Lenovo unveiled its digital secure storage solution, 'Smart Storage'.

Lenovo Smart Storage is a digital secure storage solution that supports a large capacity of 6TB[iv], dual-band wireless access, and automatic synchronization between devices. Designed for secure and P2P access to stored media such as photos, music, and documents, it helps users quickly manage data and files. Additionally, it allows users to organize photos stored in albums based on human faces through integrated, highly accurate facial recognition software.

Lenovo Smart Assistant and Smart Storage are scheduled to go on sale starting in May 2017. Whether they will be released in Korea and the price are yet to be determined.
