Five draft international standards for 5G pilot services adopted at ITU meeting
Network management standards, following the Pyeongchang 5G specifications, are also leading the way in 5G utilization services.

KT announced on the 30th that five of its 5G pilot services were adopted as draft international standards at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) conference held in Geneva, Switzerland from January 16th to 27th.

KT proposed the scenarios and technical requirements for the 5G services it has developed for the PyeongChang Olympics as an international standard contribution, and it was selected as a draft standard document.

Meanwhile, KT is leading the international standardization of 5G by advancing to the leadership level at organizations such as the ITU and GSMA, and by completing the world's first international 5G network management standard and the Pyeongchang 5G standard.

The 5G service standard approved this time is known as a representative 5G era service in that it is difficult to commercialize without a 5G network due to the characteristics of realistic/real-time media.

KT Convergence Technology Research Center Director Lee Dong-myeon said, “KT has already successfully demonstrated 5G services for the PyeongChang Olympics not in a laboratory, but in Gwanghwamun, the heart of Seoul. “Based on the international standardization achievements of KT’s 5G service, we plan to provide best practices in 5G that lead the standards for services demanded by the market,” he said.
