Western Digital has officially launched the 'WD Black PCIe SSD,' the first PCIe SSD under the WD brand, in Korea.

With the launch of the WD Black PCIe SSD, WD has completed its storage portfolio covering all applications, ranging from the 'WD Blue' and 'WD Green' SATA SSDs introduced last November to HDD product lines for PCs and workstations.

Western Digital's WD Black PCIe SSD is a high-performance PCIe Gen3 x4 interface and NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory Express) based product that provides faster sequential read speeds than SATA SSDs. It is being released in 256GB and 512GB capacities, and it was explained that it is suitable as a boot drive used with a large-capacity HDD or as main storage for next-generation PC systems.

In addition, as a storage solution that provides compatibility and reliability to enable next-generation PCs based on high-performance PCIe interfaces, it offers 1.75 million hours of MTTF (Mean Time Between Failures) and 'WD FIT (Functional Integrity Testing)' lab certification, which includes continuous usage tests in various systems and operating environments. They added that, in addition to NVMe technology optimized for SSDs, it also lowered power consumption by incorporating proprietary thermal and power management algorithms.

Meanwhile, the WD Black PCIe SSD is available in 256GB and 512GB capacities in a single-sided M.2 2280 form factor. The WD Black PCIe SSD offers sequential read and write speeds of up to 2050MB/s and 800MB/s, a 5-year warranty, and WD FIT certification, which guarantees compatibility with various major platforms.
