Samsung Electronics unveiled its full lineup of next-generation 5G communication commercial products ahead of the opening of 'MWC 2017'.

Samsung Electronics unveiled ▲ consumer terminals (Home Router, CPE), ▲ base station (5G Radio Base Station), and ▲ next-generation core network (Next Generation Core) equipment for 5G services.



The 5G product lineup recently unveiled by Samsung Electronics includes terminals and base stations equipped with RFIC core chips, supporting the 28GHz frequency band.

Users simply install a 5G terminal at home or in the office, and the 5G base station automatically recognizes it. They can then use broadband services such as wireless internet and voice calls (VoIP, Voice over IP) at speeds of up to 1 Gbps without any separate setup process.

Samsung Electronics also unveiled its next-generation network core equipment (NG-Core), which is responsible for resource management of 5G networks and distributed processing of real-time data traffic. It utilizes software-based virtualization technology to enable network resource management, real-time traffic distribution processing, and high scalability.

Samsung Electronics plans to expand its business, starting with 5G fixed wireless communication services, using the 5G commercial products it recently unveiled.

Samsung Electronics plans to launch a pilot 5G fixed wireless service for general consumers in five major cities, including Verizon, Washington, D.C., and New Jersey, starting this April. Commercial service is planned for early 2018.
