Schneider Electric Hosts Global Competition to Implement Smart Cities
'Go Green in the City' offers scholarships worth 9 million won and internship opportunities

Schneider Electric Korea (CEO Kim Kyung-rok) announced that it will hold the 7th 'Go Green in the City' contest until May 12 to realize smart cities with innovative energy management ideas from university and graduate students.

Now in its seventh year, 'Go Green in the City' is a global competition hosted by Schneider Electric since 2011 for university and graduate students worldwide. It was designed to realize innovative smart cities by having students around the world research and discuss efficient energy management solutions. Last year, the event recorded 26,400 applicants from 182 countries, clearly demonstrating global interest in smart cities.

Students in their second year or higher, as well as those on leave of absence at domestic universities (including graduate schools), may participate in teams of two regardless of their major. In accordance with the company's philosophy of pursuing diversity, each team must include at least one female student. Additionally, Schneider Electric operates an applicant pool on the contest website to recruit team members, encouraging applicants to form new teams and plan creative ideas.

You can register and submit ideas through the 'Go Green in the City' website (www.gogreeninthecity.com) until May 12. You may freely plan ideas on the topic of sustainable and efficient energy management measures for implementing a smart city. Please submit a case study in English, consisting of 4 PowerPoint slides or approximately 300 words in Word.

The 10 teams advancing to the Korean finals will be announced between May 19 and 22, and the finals will be held on May 30 to select a total of three teams, from first to third place. The three winning teams will receive a total of 9 million KRW in scholarships and internship opportunities at Schneider Electric Korea during the vacation period. The ultimate winner will be given the opportunity to represent Korea at the East Asia regional finals, undergoing mentoring by a team of Schneider Electric energy experts and coaching by a professional English presentation instructor.

One team will be selected as the regional representative at the East Asia regional finals, scheduled to be held in early July, to participate in the global finals held in Paris, France, in October 2017. At the global finals, students from around the world will gather to discuss innovative ideas and compete. The winning global team will be given the opportunity to visit various Schneider Electric offices around the world for 15 days, as well as the benefit of employment at Schneider Electric.
