KT Chairman Hwang Chang-gyu delivers a keynote address on "A New World Beyond 5G."
The 5G service experience showcased at the PyeongChang Olympics also received favorable reviews.

At the opening ceremony of MWC 2017, KT Chairman Hwang Chang-gyu announced in a keynote speech titled “New World Beyond 5G” that KT would be the first in the world to commercialize 5G services in 2019.

Chairman Hwang Chang-gyu emphasized, “5G is a network differentiated by its ‘intelligence,’ along with fast speed, uninterrupted connection, and massive capacity.” He added, “5G will be a force that changes the world as an intelligent network that combines solutions such as location, security, and control with cutting-edge information and communication technologies (ICT) such as big data and artificial intelligence.”

At MWC2017, KT showcased various exhibits, including the world's first '5G network environment (5G End-to-End network)'.

The '5G network environment' jointly developed by KT and Samsung Electronics is a complete environment that connects not only network equipment such as base stations and repeaters, but also core network equipment that manages the entire infrastructure for 5G technology to provide new services.

KT provided an opportunity to experience the '5G Olympics' to be held in Pyeongchang in 2018 first on a 5G network, and experienced unique game broadcasts through the multi-view streaming service 'Omniview', the multi-view video service 'Time Slice', and the video from the athlete's perspective 'Syncview'. In addition, the 'ski jumping' and 'luge' events could be experienced directly in VR, which received favorable reviews. In particular, King Felipe VI of Spain visited the KT MWC exhibition hall again this year, following his visit in 2014, and attracted attention by experiencing the 'luge' VR.

During this event, KT carried out various global activities in addition to the exhibition.

The GSMA & WEF (World Economic Forum) roundtable, attended by Chairman Hwang Chang-gyu, discussed follow-up measures to the World Economic Forum held in January. Using KT's "Giga Island Project" and "Infectious Disease Prevention Project" as examples, Chairman Hwang explained how ICT can drive sustainable development for all humanity.

In addition, KT's partner companies participating in the exhibition attracted the attention of representatives from various global companies. Business meetings with representatives from approximately 80 domestic and international companies were held in the Partners Zone, where partner products were displayed.

<FRTek> exhibited '5G DAS', a transmission equipment that can provide 5G communication services without laying new cables. Representatives from companies from France, China, and other countries visited FR Tech's booth and showed interest in transmission equipment.

<Salin>'s booth, which demonstrated virtual reality baseball broadcasting based on the world's first VR two-way communication solution combining 3D and 2D screens, attracted a visit from a member of the News Broadcasting Commission of Thailand (NBCT), expressing interest in the service. Furthermore, global operators from Russia, the Netherlands, and other countries continued to visit.

Snet ICT showcased its technology for providing high-speed in-vehicle Internet service using millimeter wave technology. Representatives from companies from various countries, including the US, France, and Turkey, visited the exhibit to inquire about the solution's expected benefits and unique features, and even requested a detailed technical explanation.

Equipped with the self-evolving artificial intelligence (AI) engine "eBrain," KT-MEG provides optimized solutions tailored to each customer's energy consumption patterns.
