Recognition of contribution to the development of India's digital sector
The I&G Project will provide LTE service to over 90% of India's population.

Samsung Electronics and Indian 4G LTE telecommunications operator Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. (hereafter Jio) won the 'Best Mobile Innovation in Emerging Markets' award from the GSMA at MWC 2017 on the 28th (local time).

Through this, Samsung Electronics and Jio were recognized for their contribution to the development of India's digital sector through India's nationwide 4G LTE network service.

In particular, Jio and Samsung Electronics were recognized for facilitating the rapid transition from 2G to 4G LTE in the Indian market by building the world's largest new 4G LTE network, and for driving digitalization across education, health, and agriculture, even in the most underdeveloped regions.

Samsung Electronics and Geo in 2012Samsung Electronics signed a contract to exclusively supply 4G LTE network equipment in 2014, began full-scale network construction in 2014, and launched 4G LTE services in September 2016. Samsung Electronics is providing all infrastructure equipment necessary for 4G LTE services, including base stations, core equipment, and total solutions including VoLTE, as well as network construction and optimization services.

Samsung Electronics and Jio announced plans to implement the "I&G (Infill & Growth) Project," which will provide 4G LTE service to over 90% of India's population. This will involve increasing network capacity in urban areas and building additional networks in rural areas. Jio has already secured 100 million subscribers in just 170 days since launching its service.
