Technology that can secure excellent coverage with low power consumption

Cisco announced at MWC 2017 that it has completed live trials of NB-IoT (Narrow Band-IoT) based on Cisco Jasper's connectivity management platform, Control Center.

NB-IoT, a 3GPP standard supported by the Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA), is a technology that can secure excellent coverage with lower power consumption by utilizing existing LTE infrastructure, providing a stable and cost-effective IoT connection solution for low-cost devices.

Industries where NB-IoT is expected to transform business models include smart meters, smart cities, smart parking, building automation, asset tracking, and remote agriculture.



Cisco Jasper and its service provider partners are building support for NB-IoT to help enterprises easily manage devices across multiple network types. Cisco Jasper has completed live trials, including an initial core network demonstration, with Australian mobile operator Optus, which has completed integration of its platform to support NB-IoT.
