Announced through Keynote at Bosch Connected World
Level 4 Autonomous Driving Implementation Planned via Xavier

Nvidia has announced a collaboration with Bosch, the world's largest automotive parts manufacturer, to develop artificial intelligence autonomous driving systems for production vehicles.

The announcement was made during the keynote speech by Volkmar Denner, CEO of Bosch, at the annual Internet of Things conference "Bosch Connected World" held in Berlin.

The autonomous vehicle computer being jointly developed by both companies will be based on Nvidia's deep learning software and hardware, enabling vehicles to be trained in complex driving characteristics to operate autonomously and receive updates for new features and functions.



The foundational technology for this AI vehicle computer system is the next-generation Nvidia DRIVE PX equipped with Xavier, and Xavier is an upcoming AI vehicle superchip and the world's first single-chip processor designed to implement Level 4 autonomous driving.

Xavier features the application of deep neural networks for environmental sensing, 3D environment understanding, vehicle position localization on HD maps, prediction of surrounding object behavior and location, and computation of vehicle dynamics and safe driving paths.

Jen-Hsun Huang, Nvidia founder and CEO, stated, "The challenge of autonomous vehicles can be solved through groundbreaking technological innovations recently achieved in deep learning and artificial intelligence fields. By leveraging Nvidia's AI autonomous driving vehicle computer, DRIVE PX, Bosch will establish vehicle systems in preparation for mass production of autonomous vehicles. Through this collaboration, both companies will work together to realize a future where autonomous vehicles provide safe mobility and enable anyone to utilize such autonomous vehicles."
