ENCS 5400 Series and Virtual Network Service Exchange Solutions

Cisco announced new technologies that will help customers virtualize their networks and strengthen security.

With this solution, Cisco now offers a hardware platform and virtual network service for WAN configurations connecting branch offices. This allows companies to operate their branch IT environments based on software and controllers. Cisco also announced a solution that virtualizes the DMZ, previously considered part of the corporate network, and allows deployment in external colocation centers, such as Internet Data Centers (IDCs).

We have achieved software-based network separation from endpoints to data centers and clouds. This is the application of virtualization and cloud computing technologies that have developed in the data center field over the past 10 years to the network field.



The virtualization platform is a technology that virtualizes corporate branch network services to enhance flexibility and agility. Until now, virtual network services were available by installing UCS E-Series modules on ISR 4000 series routers or deploying rack-type UCS C-Series routers at branches instead of routers. As a branch NFV-dedicated platform equipped with additional LAN/WAN interfaces, it will expand the range of choices to allow customers to select the optimal platform considering their existing WAN equipment status and future NFV introduction plans, thereby accelerating the adoption of enterprise NFV by domestic customers.

Network perimeter virtualization virtualizes the DMZ area that the customer has been operating, such as an IDC.It can move to an external colocation center to provide network services provided through Internet-based SaaS or IaaS as well as internal applications. Cisco DNA empowers businesses to transform their networks into intelligent platforms that can rapidly detect and automatically respond to cybersecurity threats.

Visibility and control capabilities provide visibility and control over users and devices on the Cisco ISE network. Furthermore, security policies can be defined as a "DEFCON" (Danger Levels)-based security policy set, enabling rapid application of predefined security policies across the entire network, even in emergency situations.

Cisco TrustSec supports software-based network segmentation, limiting and isolating threats from moving across the network. Software-based network segmentation allows security policy changes to be made 98% faster than with traditional hardware-based network segmentation. TrustSec 6.1 is now available across the Cisco enterprise networking portfolio and integrates with Cisco ACI.
