At this preview, Samsung Electronics unveiled a 445-inch (10.3 x 5.4m) cinema screen optimized for movies, featuring 4K (4096 x 2160) resolution and utilizing 96 LED cabinets. This product is a video device that meets the image quality and security standards of the Digital Cinema Initiative (DCI) in terms of how LED elements emit light to display images. It boasts a maximum brightness of 500 nits, which is approximately 10 times brighter than conventional projector lamps. You can enjoy vivid image quality with enhanced contrast thanks to HDR support, which makes dark areas darker and bright areas brighter.

It is equipped with sound tuning technology developed in collaboration with Harman, an existing audio specialist, to ensure sound spreads evenly throughout the theater.

Samsung Electronics has been conducting joint research with major Hollywood studios to establish a better HDR screening environment in theaters and is continuously strengthening collaborations to secure HDR movie content.

Kim Seok-ki, Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics’ Visual Display Business, stated, “We plan to enrich the movie experience and expand the horizons of the film industry by providing theatergoers with visuals on a completely different level from existing projectors through the ‘Samsung Cinema Screen,’ built upon Samsung’s display technology.”

Samsung Electronics plans to pilot 'Samsung Cinema Screen' movie theaters in Korea and the United States during the second half of this year, and launch them in the global market in earnest starting at the end of the year.
