KT showcases voice assistant usage in vehicles

KT announced that it will demonstrate a Home to Car service at the '2017 Seoul Motor Show,' Korea's largest motor show, by integrating its voice recognition artificial intelligence service 'GiGA Genie' with Hyundai Motor's 'IONIQ.'
KT demonstrated vehicle control through AI-based voice recognition, such as remote engine start and location guidance, by integrating 'GiGA Genie' with Hyundai Motor's 'IONIQ.' When commercialized, it is expected to provide convenient services through 'GiGA Genie' AI service, advancing one step further from the traditional telematics method of controlling vehicles via smartphone apps.
KT is providing 'Blue Link,' Korea's first vehicle telematics service, with Hyundai Motor, and plans to further strengthen Home to Car and Car to Home services starting with this motor show demonstration.
Kim Hyung-uk, executive director of Platform Business Planning at KT, stated, "KT possesses technology and expertise in connected car services based on extensive operational experience with Hyundai Motor's 'Blue Link.'" He added, "Through integration with KT's artificial intelligence service, we will provide innovative services to vehicles, and in the era of 5G autonomous driving, we will enable drivers to experience abundant multimedia content in vehicles."
'GiGA Genie' is a voice recognition artificial intelligence service launched in January of this year, providing 'media services linked with OllehTV and Genie Music,' 'AI home assistant services that help with schedule management and daily life,' 'services that control various home IoT devices,' and 'communication services providing voice and video call functions.'

KT to Lead 5G Forum for Two Years
KT was selected as the representative chairmanship in the 5th Regular General Assembly of the 5G Forum. The 5G Forum is an organization that conducts research and development on core 5G technologies and engages in domestic and international standardization activities. In addition to the three domestic mobile carriers, manufacturers such as Samsung, LG, and Ericsson-LG, venture companies, and major research institutes including the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) are participating. KT will lead the 5G Forum for two years starting from the 27th. Oh Seong-mok, president of the Network Division, was appointed as chairman of the 5G Forum representing KT. President Oh Seong-mok has been responsible for KT's wired and wireless networks since 2013 to the present, and as head of the "Pyeongchang 5G TF," is overseeing the "5G trial service" to be showcased in Pyeongchang in 2018.

STMicroelectronics has launched four integrated automotive safety sensors for the mass market, the first mass-market products following its acquisition of NXP's MEMS business. These sensors integrate multi-axis accelerometers and gyroscopes in a single package, supporting active and passive safety systems including collision protection, rollover detection, and airbag deployment, while complying with ISO 26,262. Hanwha Systems Awarded Contract for Domestic Development of Cockpit-Type Integrated Bridge System IBS
Hanwha Systems will develop two-person operated smart bridge technology through a project under the supervision of the Defense Technology Promotion Research Institute. The cockpit-type integrated bridge system (IBS) integrates navigation, combat, propulsion, and control functions in a single space with aircraft cockpit design, and incorporates AI and VR/AR-based situational information visualization as well as data-driven collision avoidance technology. Development will be completed by 2030, marking the completion of indigenous localization of three core naval ship systems following CMS and ECS.
