Samsung Electronics Unveils Refrigerator at 2017 Chef Collection Family Hub Launch Event
Equipped with smart voice recognition features and precise temperature control technology, from food storage to shopping

At the recent 'Chef Collection Experience Day,' Samsung Electronics introduced the '2017 Chef Collection Family Hub,' which features advanced next-generation smart functions and 'Precise Temperature Control Technology' enhanced by 'Full Metal Cooling.'

The event went beyond simply announcing the new features of the '2017 Chef Collection Family Hub' and focused on demonstrating, through expert evaluations and storytelling, that the 'Chef Collection Family Hub' offers functions and value beyond those of conventional refrigerators.

The '2017 Chef Collection Family Hub,' featuring enhanced user convenience, allows for application control via voice recognition technology. Based on cloud technology, the voice recognition function of the 'Chef Collection Family Hub' enables users to control various functions—such as internet browsing, shopping, schedule management, and radio playback—simply by voice, without the need to touch the screen, even in a hands-free kitchen.

It also offers upgraded features, such as 'Food Management,' which allows for everything from grocery storage to shopping in one place, and 'Family Communication,' which manages family memories and schedules. The addition of a feature to create individual accounts for each family member enables separate schedule management, and improvements to the user interface allow users to customize their home screens according to their preferences.

Customers can search for over 800 recipes categorized by ingredients, situation, and type via voice through the 'Chef Collection Family Hub,' and can complete everything from purchasing to paying for the ingredients needed for cooking all at once through the E-mart application installed on the Family Hub and Samsung Pay, which is scheduled to be introduced in April.

There are many other added features. You can enjoy 'Phone Mirroring,' which allows you to display your smartphone screen directly on a large display without a separate application, and listen to music from services like Melon and Bugs through two speakers located at the bottom of the refrigerator door that provide rich sound. It is also equipped with various convenience features, such as a 'Morning Brief' that displays today's weather, fine dust levels, and headlines of major news. In addition, the POOQ service, which provides real-time TV and radio, and 'Ibabcha,' which recommends the best recipes based on the weather or the latest trends, are scheduled to be updated.

Enhanced powerful freshness preservation function with unrivaled technology

The '2017 Chef Collection Family Hub' further enhances Samsung Electronics' unrivaled 'Precise Temperature Control Technology,' which boasts high consumer satisfaction due to its powerful freshness preservation capabilities, with 'Full Metal Cooling.'

It maintains optimal freshness by wrapping not only the walls and shelves of the conventional refrigerator compartment but also every surface that comes into contact with food in metal. Furthermore, true "Full Metal Cooling" has been achieved by applying "Metal Cooling" to specialized food storage areas such as the "Moisture Care Vegetable Compartment+" and the "Chef Pantry." In addition, the "Active Cooling" function creates an air curtain with cold air when the refrigerator door is opened, preventing outside air from mixing and reducing the internal temperature rise by 50%.

Meanwhile, Chef Im Gi-hak, who participated in the event, stated, “The 2017 Chef Collection Family Hub provides various ingredients, the starting point of cooking, with the highest level of freshness and even enables aging,” adding that it is “the best refrigerator offering over 800 diverse recipes.” In addition, at the event, housewife Kang Myung-jin, a refrigerator organization expert, gave a presentation on 'Food Management,' and Lim Yu-jeong, a speech consultant specializing in communication, gave a presentation on 'Family Communication.'

At the event, collaborative works by emerging artists were exhibited, connecting the textured design of the 'Chef Collection,' which features a three-dimensional texture, with the diverse usability of the 'Family Hub' through art. The works were created by a total of three talented artists, including artist Heo Bo-ri, daughter of cartoonist Heo Young-man, as well as artists Haru and Choi Hyun-ju.

The newly released Samsung 'Chef Collection Family Hub' comes in a 'Honed Black' color featuring real stainless steel metal, has a capacity of 919 liters, and is priced at 10.59 million won.
