KT announced that it will host the GSMA's '5G Network Virtualization Workshop' for two days starting from the 10th at the KT Convergence Technology Center in Seocho-gu, Seoul.



Several global telecommunications operators and equipment manufacturers, including KT, NTT Docomo, China Mobile, Nokia, Huawei, and Intel, will participate in this meeting to discuss issues regarding the design, construction, and operation of virtualized networks, which are core technologies of 5G networks, as well as global cooperation plans.

KT has served as the chair company since March 2015, publishing 5G white papers and proposing 5G standard technologies, and since last year, has been researching 5G R&D cooperation on 'network virtualization,' a core 5G technology, through joint work among member companies.

Lee Dong-myeon, President of KT Convergence Technology Institute, stated, "As this year marks the inaugural year of global 5G standardization, global 5G cooperation through the GSMA is becoming increasingly important," adding, "We will lead the Fourth Industrial Revolution by disseminating KT's innovative 5G technologies and services both domestically and internationally."
