Infineon Joins 5GAA to Provide Key Autonomous Vehicle Technologies
Published2017.04.18 15:52The 5GAA aims to introduce new communication solutions that enable connected autonomous driving and intelligent transportation systems. Infineon plans to provide key technologies required for 5G, autonomous vehicles, and e-mobility.
Peter Schipper, President of Infineon’s Automotive business unit, said, “Secure communication with near-zero latency is essential for innovative autonomous driving. Infineon works closely with the automotive industry and IT companies to provide communication solutions that leverage advanced semiconductors, systems, and security expertise.”
"We are pleased that Infineon has joined the 5GAA. Infineon will be able to make good use of the expertise it has built in automotive electronics, data security, and mobile communications," said Dino Flore, General Director of the 5GAA.

Industry 4.0, Autonomous Vehicles, Smart Homes...The Issue is Security
Infineon Technologies has announced that it is leading the ALESSIO research project, which develops and validates updatable security mechanisms necessary for high-value connected products such as Industry 4.0, autonomous vehicles, and smart home solutions. The project involves AISEC (Fraunhofer Institute for Applied and Integrated Security), Giesecke & Devrient, Siemens, Technical University of Munich (TUM), and WIBU-SYSTEMS based in Karlsruhe. The project will run through the end of 2019 and is supported by approximately 3.9 million euros in funding from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

Infineon Launches Automation Kit to Reduce Development Time
Infineon Technologies has introduced development kits that can shorten development time to three months. The kits are the XMC4300 Relax EtherCAT kit and XMC4800 EtherCAT automation kit. Both kits have passed EtherCAT certification testing and are currently being supplied. The XMC4300 and XMC4800 microcontrollers with integrated EtherCAT nodes are suitable for use in factory automation, I/O modules, and robotics. All XMC4800 microcontrollers meet AEC Q100 standards, making them also suitable for use in commercial, construction, and agricultural vehicles.

Practical HIL Construction Strategy for Automotive and Off-Highway Controller Validation
As vehicle E/E architecture transitions to zonal structures and shifts to software-defined vehicles (SDV), the number of controllers (ECUs) requiring validation and software complexity are surging dramatically. Meanwhile, real vehicle testing cannot provide repeated verification under identical conditions and entails lead time and safety concerns. This white paper explains the principles of HIL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) validation and the structure of the NI platform composed of PXI, SLSC, and VeriStand, and through two actual implementation cases—Camera Record & Replay HIL for In-Cabin Monitoring Controller (ICMU) and Forklift Controller (VCU) HILS—describes how controller-level regression testing becomes possible.
