Xilinx announced that high-performance Xilinx Virtex UltraScale+ FPGAs are now available on Amazon EC2 (Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud) F1 instances.

This instance provides programmable hardware acceleration with an FPGA, allowing users to directly optimize computing resources to meet requirements based on workload.



While Amazon Web Services provides secure computing capacity in the cloud, F1 instances utilize FPGAs to facilitate hardware acceleration for critical workloads. Because FPGAs are programmable, users can update and optimize hardware acceleration at any time without redesigning the hardware, thereby reducing time for evaluation and improvement.

F1 instances are used to solve complex scientific, engineering, and business problems that require high bandwidth, enhanced networking, and very high computing capacity. These instances are particularly useful in time-sensitive fields such as clinical genomics, financial analysis, video processing, big data, security, and machine learning.
