Infineon Technologies has launched a family of 40V StrongIRFET™ MOSFET products available in a D2PAK 7-pin+ package.

The new MOSFET family provides an extremely low RDS(on) of 0.65 mΩ and industry-leading current transfer capacity, enhancing the robustness and reliability of high-power density applications requiring high efficiency and reliability. Additionally, the surface-mount D2PAK 7-pin+ package is suitable for use in low-voltage drives, battery-powered tools, and lightweight electric vehicles.

The addition of the new D2PAK 7-pin+ package to the StrongIRFET family, which is available in various package types, has expanded the range of choices for power devices. In addition, it enhances design flexibility by providing compatible pinout options. Compared to the standard D2PAK 7-pin package, the new product features up to 15 percent lower RDS(on) and up to 39 percent lower thermal resistance from the junction to the PCB.

This package can accommodate up to 20 percent larger dies with the same footprint and pinout as the standard D2PAK 7-pin. Therefore, it can easily replace existing D2PAK 7-pin and H2PAK packages. Additionally, this package is designed with logic-level threshold voltages, allowing MOSFETs to be driven directly from a microcontroller, thereby saving PCB space.
