Amazon has unveiled the Echo Look, a hands-free camera that supports its AI voice assistant Alexa.

The Echo Look is an elongated, oval-shaped, stand-type hands-free camera capable of depth sensing, allowing for full-body selfies with a blurred background. When taking a picture, four LED lights illuminate the screen, and you can view a full-body image or the entire outfit from the front and back in 360 degrees. Voice commands are supported, and for 360-degree images, you can move the screen left and right to view them.





Shopping becomes possible based on augmented reality

With Echo Look, you can check outfits and even look up similar styles through a dedicated app. You can create your own lookbook by uploading images or videos to the Echo Look app, or upload them to Style Check to receive advice from AI and professional stylists.

Cala, a U.S. company, utilizes 3D body scanning technology to produce and sell custom-made clothing without requiring users to visit a store. When a user uploads a full-body photo through the Cala app, the app determines measurements by comparing them to 1,000 3D body scan images, then produces the custom-made clothing and delivers it via courier.

It appears that if Echo Look is introduced to Amazon's clothing production system, it will be able to collect data on the clothes users own and their preferred styles, and then produce and sell products likely to be favored by a large number of users. It is expected that when an order is received, a fully automated system utilizing robots can be established for everything from clothing production to delivery.
