KT announced on the 27th that it signed an 'Agreement on Improving Air Quality Environment Using IoT' with Jeju Special Self-Governing Province at the Jeju Provincial Government meeting room to systematically resolve air pollution issues, such as fine dust in the province, and to efficiently manage air quality in the region.

Air conditions, including fine dust, ultrafine dust, noise, temperature, and humidity, are collected in real-time 24 hours a day across Jeju Island. The measured data can be checked in real-time by the local government via web monitoring, and the accumulated air quality data is combined with KT traffic information for analysis before being provided to Jeju Province. Based on this, the Jeju Provincial Government can establish an air quality management response system in addition to identifying areas of air pollution.



In addition, through the joint formation of a working consultative body with Jeju Island, KT will carry out tasks such as establishing an advanced fine dust management system, analyzing vulnerable areas by combining with spatial information, supporting environmental monitoring of air pollution sources, supplementing high-cost national measurement network data, providing fine dust status maps by region, season, and time of day, and optimizing the routes of garbage trucks based on observation data analysis.

An official from the Jeju Provincial Government stated, "Through an IoT-based air quality monitoring network tailored to the regional characteristics of Jeju, it will be possible to manage a clean Jeju and the health of its residents," adding, "It appears that by utilizing an economical IoT monitoring network, data from the existing national air quality monitoring network can be supplemented and used for fine dust reduction policies."
