KT Builds 'IoT Smart Building' for Smartphone-Based Building Management
Published2017.05.17 18:30KT has implemented integrated building control, smart parking management systems, and emergency call bell solutions by applying information and communications technology (ICT) including Internet of Things (IoT) at 'Triple Street'. This enables tenants to conduct their business operations swiftly and efficiently, while providing visitors with comfortable and safe shopping.
The company has unified and managed asset information from previously dispersed facilities, improving standardization and efficiency of management operations. QR codes have been attached to major facility equipment, allowing facility managers to check equipment inspection histories and other information from the field through their smartphones.
Additionally, the smart parking management system enables real-time camera-based parking guidance and unmanned parking guidance for visitors. Visitors can also check their vehicle's parking location through an application after parking. Furthermore, CCTV, large kiosks with facility information, and emergency call bells have been installed in the parking lot and women's restrooms.
Kim Jun-geun, Head of KT's Giga IoT Business Division, stated, "We will expand the application of specialized IoT solutions not only to large shopping malls like Triple Street but also to various spaces. We will make efforts to meet diverse customer needs for various spaces including residential areas, hotels, offices, and commercial facilities."

KT announced that it has applied a "Smart Air Quality Management Solution" for measuring and analyzing indoor and outdoor air environment conditions in apartments to "Okjeong Central Park Purgio" in collaboration with Daewoo Engineering and Construction. The "Smart Air Quality Management Solution" is a solution that allows residents to check air quality information collected 24/7 from IoT terminals located throughout and around the apartment complex in real-time via smartphone apps and web interfaces. Residents can check conditions in real-time through the application and quickly identify the external air quality level when opening windows within the apartment complex. When conditions deteriorate below appropriate levels or deviate from user-set standards, push notifications are provided. Based on user location, the solution provides real-time information on ultrafine dust (PM2.5), fine dust (PM10), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), temperature, humidity, noise, and weather information for outdoor activities, ventilation feasibility, indoor laundry drying, and other purposes. Currently, the service operates at the level of real-time air monitoring in actual living spaces such as playgrounds, daycare centers, and community centers. Going forward, in addition to continuous management of measurement information, the solution is planned to provide integrated IoT control functions that activate air conditioning units or air purifiers installed in homes automatically when outdoor air quality is good for ventilation or when indoor air quality is poor to improve air conditions. Kim Jun-geun, Head of KT's GiGA IoT Business Division, stated, "The solution is expected to be useful for apartment units with young children or elderly family members who are sensitive to air pollution levels." He added, "We will continue to do our best to develop services that protect customer health and provide various benefits using IoT technology."

KT to Make Jeju Island Fine Dust-Free with 'IoT'
KT announced on the 27th that it has signed a 'IoT-based Air Quality Environmental Improvement Agreement' with Jeju Special Self-Governing Province at the Jeju Provincial Government conference room to systematically address air pollution issues such as fine dust in the region and to enable efficient air quality management in the area. Real-time data on air conditions including fine dust, ultrafine dust, noise, temperature, and humidity are collected 24/7 across Jeju Province. The measured data can be confirmed in real-time by local governments through web-based control, and accumulated air quality data are combined with KT traffic information and other data for analysis before being provided to Jeju Province. Based on this, Jeju Provincial Government can identify areas where air pollution occurs and establish an air quality management response system.

KT, Healthcare Solutions in Africa… Expected to Eliminate Medical Blind Spots
KT announced that it showcased Korean-style digital healthcare solutions at TAS 2017 (Transform Africa Summit 2017), which is being held in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda, from May 10 to 12. TAS is an international IT conference held once every two years following the Smart Africa Manifesto declaration. Since 2013, it has been co-hosted by the Rwandan government and ITU (International Telecommunications Union), with African leaders and major IT companies in attendance. This year, with smart cities as the theme, approximately 300 government and business officials from major African countries participated.

H.Energy has obtained green technology certification from the Small and Medium Business Administration for solar power generation forecasting and I-V curve anomaly diagnosis technology. The AI-based asset management platform SolarOnCare is deployed across more than 3,000 power plants nationwide, achieving a system uptime of 99.82% and a 3.7% improvement in power generation performance. Through real-time data analysis, it protects power generation revenue by detecting and managing minor losses such as module degradation and partial shading early on.
