Samsung QLED TV, Calibration Now Made Easy

Samsung Electronics QLED TV supports automatic calibration technology, which is essential for photography, graphic, and video professionals.
Calibration is the process of finely adjusting the colors of a display, and is an essential process for professionals who want to make sure that the colors seen on displays such as monitors and TVs match the colors of the output from output devices such as printers.
Existing TV calibration is a time-consuming task because numerous setting points must be individually specified. Accordingly, Samsung Electronics has been jointly developing an automatic calibration technology that can complete the calibration process in 10 minutes with SpectraCal, a picture quality measurement software company, since the end of last year.
As a result, by purchasing the automatic calibration software 'CalMAN' kit, which SpectraCal is scheduled to release this week, and connecting it to a QLED TV, you can easily perform the calibration task with just a few clicks.

Flexible OLEDs Must Improve Lifespan and Efficiency to Achieve Mass Adoption
Displays are now entering an era of 'flexibility.' As interest shifts toward flexible technology, plastic organic light-emitting diodes (POLED) are attracting attention. According to market research firm IHS Markit, OLED has caught up with liquid crystal displays (LCD), which dominate the smartphone display market, and demand for flexible OLED panels is increasing sharply, with predictions that they will surpass flat-panel OLED panels in the third quarter of this year. Compared to LED, OLED allows users to adjust color temperature, color, and brightness, and since it is an area light source that emits light from all surfaces, the area where heat is dissipated is wide, making it relatively free from heat concerns. Assuming operation in a typical environment, no heat sink is required, and since the film thickness is thin, transparency is possible. Because it can be made from plastic rather than glass, it is also possible to flex it. Aspects of OLED technology that have yet to be resolved are efficiency, lifespan, light extraction, and cost. OLED can theoretically achieve luminous efficiency of up to 190 lm/W, but currently it is around 70 lm/W, a level similar to LED. Lifespan can reach 10,000 hours, but to compete with LED, it needs to achieve 30,000 hours.

LG전자가 77형(196cm) ‘LG SIGNATURE(시그니처) 올레드 TV W’를 국내 시장에 출시했다. 77형 ‘LG 시그니처 올레드 TV W(모델명: OLED77W7K)’ 출하가는 3,300만원이다. LG 올레드 TV 중 가장 고가임에도 출시 이전부터 매장에서 고객 문의가 이어지며 사전 주문이 이뤄지고 있다. LG전자는 다음 달 29일까지 77형 ‘LG 시그니처 올레드 TV W’를 구매하는 고객에게 캐시백 400만원을 제공한다. 실제 구매가는 2,900만원인 셈이다. 또, 신개념 의류관리기 ‘LG 트롬 스타일러’도 증정한다.
