Introduction to battery saving technology, GiGA Genie, various safety energy solutions, and lifestyle-oriented services

KT is participating in the World IT Show 2017 (WIS 2017), the largest domestic information and communications exhibition held at COEX for four days from the 24th to the 27th, and is showcasing an exhibition booth under the theme of "PyeongChang 5G Preview."

KT organized its exhibition hall into a total of two zones at this exhibition: the 5G Network Zone and the Convergence Service Zone.
At the entrance of the exhibition hall, a '5G Network' zone was set up, and C-DRX (Connected mode Discontinuous Reception), a smartphone battery consumption reduction technology for KT wireless subscribers, was installed. Through C-DRX, KT wireless subscribers can enjoy the effect of increasing smartphone battery life by up to 45%. C-DRX improves upon the existing method, which consumed battery by remaining constantly connected during data usage, by reducing battery consumption through the method of turning off communication functions when there is no transmission or reception.

Inside the exhibition hall, visitors can listen to detailed explanations via HoloLens's MR while viewing a media facade depicting a snowy winter scene using thousands of LED bulbs powered by the electricity saved every second by all KT wireless subscribers. Passing through the media facade leads to an experience with 5G technology. The exhibition introduces speeds, coverage, and equipment based on the PyeongChang 5G standard, and also provides augmented reality (AR) explanations of 5G technology through a diorama in the center of the booth. At the front of the 'Convergence Service' zone, VR equipment has been installed that allows visitors to realistically experience KT's 5G services while enjoying various winter sports. Visitors can experience 5G services through various VR devices such as luge, alpine skiing, bobsleigh, and figure skating.



The side of the exhibition hall features home and office environments where KT’s AI TV ‘GiGA Genie’ recommends content tailored to visitors, and allows them to directly experience ‘TV Sook,’ the nation’s first IPTV Hyper VR interactive play-learning service.

At the KT Smart Control Center corner, visitors can explore various control solutions. These include KT-MEG (Micro Energy Grid), an AI-powered integrated energy management platform; IP Core SDN, which autonomously detects network status and determines/controls traffic paths; a smart air quality safety IoT solution; a construction safety management IoT solution; a fire prevention IoT solution; and a smart radio communication solution.

KT-MEG is a smart energy platform centered on the AI-based energy big data analysis engine 'e-Brain.' It enables cost reduction by analyzing building energy consumption patterns that vary according to variables such as time, day of the week, and weather, thereby predicting power usage and identifying areas for savings.
Inside the exhibition hall, lifestyle-oriented services such as fintech and vehicle IoT services have been prepared. ▲ It offers experiences such as CLiP Smart Receipt, which issues electronic receipts to customers receiving credit card payment notifications via text message; USIM Direct Authentication, a next-generation authentication platform combining a carrier's secure channel and a USIM; 'GiGA Drive,' which supports comprehensive in-vehicle services based on seamless communication; and 'IoT Safe Rider,' an IoT-based intelligent integrated safety service for motorcycles.
